FUNDRAISING FUNDAMENTALS

This presentation is tailored for small to medium-sized organizations that either are looking to launch a fundraising program or currently undertake fundraising but do not have a formal program in place. The presentation focuses on identifying the objectives of a fundraising plan and developing the framework for a fundraising strategy.  Topics include defining the objectives of your fundraising program, organizational capacity, target markets, and options for fundraising initiatives.

FINANCIAL REPORTING FOR REGISTERED CHARITIES

This presentation focuses on the required financial reporting that accompanies registered charitable status.  Topics include an overview of the regulatory environment for registered charities, key details for financial statements, completion of the T3010 Annual Information Return including expense allocation, and common T3010 reporting errors.

OBLIGATIONS OF REGISTERED CHARITIES

The focus of this presentation is to highlight the responsibilities that accompany registered charity status including receipting of gifts, devotion of resources to charitable activities, other acceptable activities such as related business and fundraising, maintaining adequate books, and the filing of the T3010 Annual Information Return. 

REVENUE GENERATION FOR REGISTERED CHARITIES

This presentation is focused on the ways that charities can sell goods and services to generate surplus revenue or as part of their charitable programming.  Topics include fundraising, related business, program fees, and Community Economic Development activities.

REGISTERING AS A CHARITY

The focus of this presentation is to provide guidance and direction for organizations and groups considering charitable registration. Topics include the differences between registered charities and NPOs, the advantages of registration, alternatives to registration, the regulatory obligations associated with charitable status, and an overview of the application process.

REGISTERED CHARITIES MAKING GRANTS

This presentation is focused on CRA Policy for charities making grants to non-qualifies donees; notably to non-profit organizations (NPOs) based in Canada. It includes an overview of the differences between charities and NPOs, the funding environment, and clarity on how charities can operate.
